The Downtown Birmingham People and Pets Holiday Shopping Gala, a pet-friendly shopping and fundraising event, will be held in downtown Birmingham from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 30. Participating merchants will invite people to shop in their stores with pets on a leash or in a carrying bag during this time. Refreshments will be on hand for people and pets and a portion of the evening's proceeds will be donated to the Michigan Animal Rescue League. Participating merchants will post an "I Am Participating" sign in their windows.
The Michigan Animal Rescue League will receive 10 percent of Bow Meow's sales on Dec. 2 and 3, when the pet store, located at 30395 Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak, offers pet photos with Santa by Ginger DeLater from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Reservations are required for the $35 digital photo sessions, which include one 8" x 10" or eight wallet-size black-and-white or color portraits. Pet photos with Hanukkah themes and Santa can be taken at The Uppity Puppy, 706 S. Washington St. in Royal Oak, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10. Proceeds will be donated to The Animal Welfare Society.
