Every time you look into your pet's face, your heart melts. When he or she does something adorable, you run to go get the camera. You know your pet is cute. Now you'll have the opportunity to prove it.
The Troy Jaycees is seeking entries for its 2nd annual cutest pet contest. There are categories for cats and dogs. So far, six entries - all dogs - have been received for this year's contest, said Ryan Deel, chairperson of the board for the Troy Jaycees. "We need some cat entries," he said.
Entering is simple: Fill out an application and send it to the Troy Jaycees along with a photograph of your pet and a $15 entry fee. Application forms are available on the Troy Jaycees Web Site, www.troyjaycees.org and must be received by Sept. 10.
Photos of those vying for the 2007 cutest pet title are posted on the Troy Jaycees Web site.
Voting will take place at the Troy Jaycees booth during the Troy Daze festival, scheduled for Sept. 13-16. Everyone can vote for their favorite pet simply by putting money in that pet's jar. The pet who earns the most money in each category is declared the cutest pet, said Deel.
This year those casting votes will not only express their opinion about the cutest pet and support a good cause, but can also receive chances to win some raffle prizes. Every vote of $1 will earn that person one raffle ticket. For every $5 vote, voters will receive 10 raffle tickets. All tickets will be sold at Troy Daze. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Michigan Humane Society.
The winning pets will be announced at approximately 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16. Winners will receive recognition on the Troy Jaycees Web site and in press releases about the contest results, a $25 gift certificate to a pet supply store and a certificate suitable for framing - and don't forget about the bragging rights.
