A local photographer and pet boutique owner are pairing up to present an upcoming event that will benefit the Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL) in Pontiac.
The event will feature in-store digital portrait sessions by professional photographer Ginger DeLater of Birmingham.
Pet owners are encouraged to make an appointment for the $25 digital portrait session and then bring their pets to Bow Meow, a pet boutique that features unique items for pets in Royal Oak, during the event July 29. The event will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
DeLater said she enjoys capturing the personality of pets in her portraits. In addition to portraits, she creates other items featuring photographs of pets, such as nightlights and cards.
While at Bow Meow, visitors can register for the chance to have their pet featured on one of DeLater's nightlights.
Visitors can also enter a drawing for an opportunity to win other prizes, such as a private pet portrait session and in-store gift cards.
MARL will also have animals available for adoption, said Mickey Guisewite, development director for the Michigan Animal Rescue League.
Marcie Theisen, owner of Bow Meow, said it's important to her to support the Michigan Animal Rescue League because they provide a lot of hard work toward securing homes for homeless pets.
"It's a great event for a great cause," she said. A portion of the day's proceeds will be donated to MARL.
To schedule a portrait appointment for July 29, call Bow Meow at (248) 435-9045.
The pet boutique is located at 30395 Woodward Avenue in between 12 and 13 Mile roads.
