Head to Clawson, May 20, and for a moment you may pause - or make that see paws.
The Clawson Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the City of Clawson, will present Claws & Paws 2006.
The event will combine a 2-mile run, fun walk and dog jog that will wind through the neighborhoods surrounding Clawson Park.
Registration is from 8-8:45 a.m. with the event beginning at 9 a.m. Cost is $20 per person with T-shirts available while supplies last.
Following the run/walk, a Pet Fair will be open from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the park.
Tim Burns, chamber board member and chairperson of the Claws & Paws committee, said the event is a perfect match for Clawson, which boasts a number of pet-oriented businesses as well as pet owners.
Runners and walkers are welcome to participate with or without a canine companion, he said.
The pet fair will feature pet adoptions by the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan as well as discounted rabies shots from Kimball Animal Hospital, pet-related items and crafts and informational booths. Clawson residents can also renew or purchase city pet licenses at the pet fair.
Admission to the pet fair is free and participation in the walk/run is not required to attend, said Burns.
