Dog massage demonstration
A dog-massage demonstration will be given by certified pet massage provider, Gentle Paws Pet Massage, during an informative event to be held at Bow Meow Pet Boutique in Royal Oak on March 24 at 1 p.m. This event will educate pet owners about the benefits of massage for their furry friends and provide information about Gentle Paws Pet Massage services. Pet owners are welcome to bring their dogs along, and two dog volunteers from the audience will be asked to participate in the demonstration. After the demonstration, massages will be offered for $20 for 20 minutes for those who would like their dog to be pampered. Pet photos with the Easter Bunny can be taken at The Uppity Puppy, 706 S. Washington in Royal Oak, March 25. Photos will be taken by appointment only. Pet vaccination clinic
The Michigan Humane Society will offer its 17th annual "Protect-A-Pet" vaccination clinics at five locations in Hazel Park and Detroit for healthy dogs and cats over six weeks of age. Since the program's inception in 1991, the Michigan Humane Society "Protect-A-Pet" vaccination clinics have assisted dog and cat guardians on low or fixed incomes by providing free, age-appropriate vaccinations against Distemper, Parvovirus, Rabies and other deadly diseases. The vaccination clinic in Hazel Park will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 31 at the DPW Yard, Hazel Park (licenses will be available for Hazel Park and Ferndale residents). The following vaccinations will be provided: Combination vaccinations protecting against Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus for dogs over six weeks of age; combination vaccinations protecting against Rhinotracheitis, Calici and Panleukopenia for cats over six weeks of age; and rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats over four months of age. All animals must be on leashes or in carriers. Pawsitive Start seminar
"Pawsitive Start," a free monthly seminar for all dog guardians presented by the Michigan Humane Society Pet Education Center, will be held the last Monday of every month from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Michigan Humane Society Rochester Hills Center for Animal Care. No pre-registration is needed. Pawsitive Start seminars are for humans only - please leave dogs at home. Though developed for new dog guardians, everyone who would like to improve his or her dog's house manners is welcome to attend. In addition to the free monthly seminar, the Pet Education Center offers a wide variety of classes. The Michigan Humane Society Rochester Hills Center for Animal Care is located at 3600 W.
