"Pawsitive Start," a free seminar for all dog guardians presented by the Michigan Humane Society Pet Education Center, will be Jan. 28 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Michigan Humane Society Rochester Hills Center for Animal Care. No preregistration is needed. Pawsitive Start seminars are for humans only - please leave dogs at home. Everyone who would like to improve his or her dog's house manners is welcome to attend. In addition to the free monthly seminar, the Pet Education Center offers a wide variety of classes. The Michigan Humane Society Rochester Hills Center for Animal Care is at 3600 W. Auburn Road. The Michigan Humane Society Rochester Hills Center For Animal Care will host "Pet Projects," a program that gives children ages 7 to 13 the opportunity to help the animals in their community, from 3-5 p.m. Jan. 19 at the facility, 3600 W. Auburn Road. "Pet Projects" participants, accompanied by their parent/guardian, will have the opportunity to help in many ways, including: Making kitty forts, brightly colored and decorated cardboard boxes that help alleviate stress and keep cats happy while searching for their new forever homes; Snuggle Blankets, soft, hand-made blankets that provide a sense of security and familiarity for the animals while looking for their forever home; and Pupsicles, a yummy treat for pups of all ages, made with dog food and treats.
